Environmental Traveling Companions

"During the wrap-up around ETC's river camp, the satisfaction, pride and healthy exhaustion was clear in the faces and voices of the participants. We feel that they will vividly remember this experience they have shared with the police officers, ETC staff and other youth for the rest of their lives; and that they will be able to use the lessons of teamwork, trust and cooperation to help their lives for the better."

WHITEWATER RAFTING PROGRAM

Trip Schedule

WHITEWATER ADVENTURES: River rafting with wheelchair on-board
THE SOUTH FORK AMERICAN RIVER
Come raft one of California's most celebrated whitewater runs! The South Fork American River is lively and playful, offering a blend of relaxing calm Class II and thrilling class III rapids. In the heart of Gold Country, the river winds through open, golden hills as well as a breathtaking gorge. This river is perfect for beginners or seasoned whitewater veterans. ETC's accessible campground at the river's edge provides the perfect stage for either a day trip or a multi-day adventure.

THE ROGUE RIVER (Sept 17–21, 2009)
This expedition style trip winds through the Wild and Scenic Rogue River. Designated a National Wild and Scenic River in 1967, the Rogue still retains the same beauty and secluded character as it did more than thirty years ago. The narrow confines of the Rogue canyon create some of the best whitewater in the west. Never fierce, this river is always fun. Most rapids here are boulder-choked mazes splashing down quick turn raceways with giant, smooth black boulders lining the river. Rafts squeeze through mini-canyons that pool into big calms below. A fantastic trip for families!

THE COLORADO'S GRAND CANYON (check back for future dates)
The Grand Canyon is a true natural wonder. Come and experience parts of the canyon that most people never see. From Marble Canyon to Lava Falls Rapid to the Anasazi Ruins, this truly is North America's ultimate river trip. Journey through the Canyon where you will discover its awesome beauty, spectacular geological history, crystalline creeks, waterfalls, and breathtaking scenery.
Scholarships available to rafters with special needs.

SEASON
River trips generally run from April through September, but are dependent on river flow conditions.
