- Special Events
Volunteers are the heart and soul of ETC, and represent diverse cultures, ages, occupations, and abilities. We provide expert training in wilderness skills, first aid, disability / diversity awareness, and environmental education. Every volunteer brings their own special talents and enthusiasm to the adventure. That is why so many of our participant groups return, year after year!
Have tons of fun while experiencing the joy of helping others:
We encourage all people interested in volunteering to submit a Volunteer Guide Application (see below). Once received, we will keep these on file until we begin recruitment and interviews for the program-specific Volunteer Guide Trainings that occur each year.
Sea Kayak Program
Training for Sea Kayak Program Volunteers occurs in April of each year. Sea Kayak Training consists of two weekends of on-water training (one is an overnight on Tomales Bay and one is a four-day overnight on Angel Island). Additionally there is also a mandatory Inclusion Training held at our River Camp one weekend in the end of May. For more information on joining our Sea Kayak Program as a volunteer, please take a look at our Sea Kayak Program Volunteer Announcement.
Training for River Program Volunteers occurs in June of each year, and involves a five-day guide school, a two-day swiftwater rescue training, and a mandatory Inclusion Training that takes place in late May. For more information on joining our River Program as a volunteer, please take a look at our River Program Volunteer Announcement.
We ask all volunteers to complete an application and participate in a group interview. This process ensures that you are a good fit for the program and that you are fully aware of what it means to be an ETC volunteer. We look forward to hearing from you!
