ETC offers several trips annually for individuals, families, and friends to come share in the fun of accessible whitewater rafting!
The rafting portion of the trip will begin at our River Camp at 10:00AM on Saturday morning, though you are also welcome to arrive Friday night and spend the night on our property (this is complementary). We’ll start with an opening circle, giving our rafting group an opportunity to get to know one another. The Guides will also orient everyone to the plan for the day. Afterward, we’ll prepare for our trip, which includes a hearty lunch and instructions on safety and paddling. We’ll then accommodate any special needs, and then get on the water for a day of rafting!
Our day of rafting will include approximately 12 miles on the Lower Gorge Section of the South Fork American River. This stretch starts with mellower Class II whitewater, and then builds to exciting Class III whitewater in the afternoon for fun waves and rapids. Our day of rafting will conclude at about 5:00PM, when we head back to camp. You may decide to join us for camping and possibly a second day of rafting, and, if so, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner prepared at our beautiful River Camp.
If you are joining us for a second day of rafting, we’ll wake up the next morning ready for another great day of whitewater. We’ll have breakfast in camp, then drive approximately 30 minutes to the put in for the Chili Bar Section of the South Fork of the American River. After a paddle and safety refresher, we’ll get on the river! This stretch starts with exciting Class III rapids like Racehorse Bend and First Threat, then we’ll break for lunch at a riverside location. After lunch, we’ll finish the day with calmer whitewater as we raft to the ETC River Camp to get off the water around 3:00PM. We’ll then finish our memorable weekend on the river with a closing circle to share our “Kodak Moments.”
